Outdoor Yoga for Adults on the Library Lawn In-Person

This 4-week outdoor yoga series for adults will take place every Friday evening in August (8/4, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25) from 6:00 – 6:45 PM. If the weather is inclement, we'll meet in the library meeting rooms. Registration is required for each session.

The Earth to Sky Series will explore connections between different areas of the body from the ground (earth) up (to sky!) to encourage movement options. We’ll map things out, including feet, hips, spine, ribs, shoulders, and neck, and study how these disparate parts are different, but not separate.

The movement in this series will be taught through the lens of yoga asana (shapes that look a certain way on the outside) and some somatic techniques (what you perceive from the inside). We’ll also focus on other aspects of yoga including pranayama, concentration, & meditation. We’ll come back to earth at the end of each class with some satisfying stretches and savasana (final resting pose) to allow for some integration and rest.

These classes are suitable for anyone who can get up and down from the ground.

Yoga blocks and straps will be provided. Please bring a yoga mat, towel, or blanket for cushioning.

Kasia Pelepko is a Rochester-based yoga teacher who has trained in a variety of yoga systems & movement modalities. The common thread in her classes is to highlight how resilient, capable, & adaptable all of us are. More information can be found on her website
