Irondequoit Art Club: Introduction to Calligraphy In-Person

Join the Irondequoit Public Library and Irondequoit Art Club for a hands-on instruction introduction to calligraphy lead by Ellen Brannin.

In many parts of the world, calligraphy is considered a major art.  There are dozens of styles of lettering.  Ellen will present an overview of three styles.  Participants will have a change to practice these letters at the same time.  Materials will be provided but feel free to bring any calligraphy materials that you have at home.

Ellen Brannin has lived in the Rochester area all her life.  Always interested in letters, she began formal studies in calligraphy in the mid 1990s.  Ellen has attended several international calligraphy conferences and learned from many well-known calligraphers including Annie (Gail Vick) Barnhardt, Ewan Clayton, Barbara Close, Reggie Ezell, Sherri Kiesel, Gwen Weaver to name a few.  In addition to being a member of the Irondequoit Art Club, Ellen is a member of the Genesee Valley Calligraphy Guild.  They are celebrating their 40th year as a guild. https://www.gvcalligraphy.org
