Holiday Harps In-Person

We invite you to welcome in the “most wonderful time of the year” with Roxanne Ziegler and John Gaspar of the Lyre/Lyre Harp Duo.  Wrap[yourself in a cozy hug as you find yourself relaxing to a medley of sentimental waltzes.  Let your mind meditate on the holy hush of the season with beloved carols.  Feel your heart return to childhood as you hear timeless melodies that sing of magic.  And cheerfully greet the winter solstice as you listen to traditional sounds of the season.

The Lyre, Lyre Harp duo (Roxanne Ziegler and John Gaspar)has been performing since 1997.  John and Roxanne enjoy the rich sonorities and textures possible with two harps. They have performed in many of Rochester’s prestigious locations and have elegantly entertained their listeners.

Roxanne Ziegler is an active performer and harp teacher.  She has promoted the harp in the Rochester area by guiding hundreds of students on their personal exploration of the harp.  Roxanne also directed the Harmonious Harp Ensemble which gave over 100 concerts locally.  She was a staff musician at Spiritus Christi for nearly 20 years and played as a certified music practitioner in many medical facilities and senior facilities over the past two decades bringing joy and peace to those who heard her.  Roxanne collaborated with Mitzie Collins and Glennda Dove giving holiday concerts in the upstate area and recording several albums of Christmas music that were sold internationally.

John Gaspar  earned degrees in Music Education from Nazareth College and  The  Eastman School of Music.  He studied harp with Roxanne Ziegler.  He is a member of The Center Stage Pops Orchestra and has played with other community ensembles.  A composer and arranger, his works include 3 cantatas for children’s chorus and 4 arrangements for the Sampler Trio.  John appears as arranger on Allyn VanDusen’s CD “Our Love”.  His harp duet and harp solo arrangements are sold as digital downloads at harpcolumn.com/music and at sheetmusicplus.com.
