Embracing the Seasons in the Native Garden In-Person

Adorning the local trails in the fall, we find beautifully shaped seed heads, brightly colored leaves, bronze-colored grasses and the last blooms of aster and goldenrod. Every season in Western New York has ecological value and purpose. How can we learn from this succession and change in nature and apply it to our yards? This talk by Sarah Sutton, Ontario County master gardener and owner of Spicebush Swallowtail Native Plants and Eco Design, will describe different local ecosystems and how they change through the seasons; as well as how we might embrace and guide these changes in our own gardens for maximum ecological value and beauty. The talk will be followed by a roundtable discussion amongst the audience and presenter, an opportunity to share questions, what works well in our own gardens and other related thoughts. This event is organized by Color Irondequoit Green.
